We want to take a moment to talk to you about what is currently happening in the coffee industry and why you might notice a change in our coffee bean prices.

As you might know, Brazil is the largest producer of coffee in the world, growing about 40% of the global supply. A severe drought there has significantly impacted coffee crops, driving up green coffee prices worldwide. When Brazil faces a challenge like this, the ripple effects are felt across the entire coffee industry, from farmers to roasters to your morning cup. 

For some more context, the C Market is a global exchange that facilitates commodity Arabica coffee, and since this time last year, the price has increased by about 100%. Because we are a specialty coffee roaster, we do not buy coffee on the C Market; however, fluctuations in the C Market are reflected in the price of specialty coffee. 

At Polite Coffee Roasters, we’re committed to sourcing high quality coffees—ones that are grown responsibly and treated with care at every step of their journey. While we always try to absorb cost fluctuations when we can, the current green coffee market has reached a point where we must adjust our pricing to sustain our business and support our employees. 

We’re also taking this as an opportunity to reevaluate the coffees we offer. This adjustment allows us to expand our coffee reach by exploring more exceptional and exclusive options. We aim to bring you new, exciting flavor profiles and an elevated experience in every cup. We see this as a chance to grow and to continue delighting you with the best that the coffee world has to offer!
